Game Drive

“You know you are truly alive when you’re living among lions.” – Karen Blixen, Out of Africa

At Nambiti Plains, every single moment is about nature – and this is why your tariff comes standard with two game drives per day. Nambiti Plains’ professional guides are trained to give you the most enriching game-viewing experiences possible.

An early morning or late afternoon safari is the best way to absorb the sights, smells and sounds of Africa. Encounter the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo): the animals that inspire a long-lasting connection with the continent. And, once you’ve found them, go looking for some of Africa’s other famous five – the Little Five (elephant shrew, rhino beetle, leopard tortoise, ant lion and buffalo weaver).

Our guides are experts in the circle of life, and how it spins slowly and frenetically in the African bush. They will offer you wildlife lessons from their own cultures and knowledge. They will tell stories and share anecdotes. They will explain, inform, educate and sit back and let you fall in love with the wild in your own way.

For optimum animal sightings and to ensure the comfort of our guests, our drives depart the Lodge early each morning and again in the late afternoon. Depending on the weather and game activity, your guide will stop for a tea/coffee break during the morning drive and for sunset drinks during the evening drive.

Remember to take a hat, sunscreen, binoculars and a camera with you. We also recommend a jacket or sweater, as it can be cool in the early mornings and evenings. For your comfort, all of our open game drive vehicles are equipped with blankets and ponchos throughout the year, and with hot water bottles during winter months.

Morning Drive

In the early morning, you will receive a wake-up knock from one of our staff members, who will be waiting in the lounge area 15 minutes later. Here you can enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits before leaving for your morning drive. Should you not want to go on the morning game drive, please advise the Manager or guide.

Evening Drive

Later in the day, your guide will meet you in the restaurant for delectable afternoon tea at a pre-arranged time, before you depart for your evening game drive.

Private Drives

If you’d prefer a more customised and intimate safari experience, private game viewing can be arranged with the Manager. This includes your own guide and the exclusive use of a game drive vehicle. With the freedom to dictate your own departure time and drive duration, private game viewing can offer you an adventure that is distinctly yours, with no interruptions or distractions. Tariffs are available on request, but please be aware that this special game viewing offer does depend on the availability of suitable vehicles and guides.
